We stayed at
the Delaware Seashore State Park South Inlet Campground. North Inlet is currently under construction.
NORTH
The staff
was helpful and the neighbors were friendly. Like many have said, it is a
parking lot and without cover from the sun you might spend your entire days in
your rv or you can easily work on your tan as many did :) It is a very tight
fit and maneuvering your vehicles could become slightly trying. You are parked
closely to your neighbor but do have a little space with a picnic table on some
sand and grass to call your own while you’re there.
There is fishing all along the north side of the campground until just before the beach and we observed many enjoying some night fishing.
The website states that the edge of the campground is approximately 400 yards from the beach. It took us about 7-10 minutes to walk from our spot. Keep in mind that this can be a quite a distance if you’re camped at the bottom left. Many drove to the parking lot on the other side of the bridge and walked to the water.
The Charles W. Cullen Bridge is absolutely beautiful at night. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. You can travel a distance of about five miles in either direction to get to the shops and restaurants. Along the way heading north there are about three bay access areas. This calm water is about two feet deep, even way out to the middle of the bay! Some were clamming, others were just relaxing on beach chairs on the shore which were right behind their vehicles and we saw jellyfish, sand crabs and horseshoe crabs.
I will try to paste some pictures here to give you an idea of what you will find. My family and I had a good experience and will return again. Maybe we’ll see you there fellow camper!
This
is the best I could document the journey from the campsite to the ocean. (1)
Leaving the rv (2) walkway to the bridge (3) view of the campground from almost
under the bridge (4) view of campground after crossing the street, at the beginning
of under the bridge (5) view towards the beach from about the middle of under
the bridge (6) and (7) views of the ocean from on top of the bridge (8)
